2026 Canadian National Jigsaw Puzzle Competition
May 29-31, 2026 |Georgetown, ON
Location: Mold Masters SportsPlex Arena
221 Guelph St, Halton Hills, ON L7G 4A8
Event Details, an Overview
-
If you build it, they will come! We continue to grow the Canadian Nationals and this year will be no exception. With a new venue - a hockey rink - we have space for 100 competition tables, approximately doubling in size. Warm temperatures should not be an issue in this large open air venue. We can't anticipate what the sound will be like in a full arena with no ice on the floor so we suggest puzzlers come prepared with noise cancelling headphones if noise may impact you.
New this year improvements / changes are marked in red
-
The event is a three day event with a kick off "Puzzle Social" on Friday night.
The Friday night social is a free event but pre-registration is required.
-
The competitions are on Saturday & Sunday with three divisions: individual, pairs (2) and teams (3 or 4).
-
Individual and Pair Division participants will receive one 500 piece Ravensburger puzzle to take home.
Teams Division participants will receive one 1000 piece Ravensburger puzzle to take home.
The puzzles are never released puzzles from Ravensburger.
-
Top puzzlers in each round will move on to the final round as per the guidelines in our rules document.
Prizes are awarded to the top ten finishers in each final competition.
-
There will be random puzzle giveaways at the start of each competition. All registered participants are eligible to win these giveaways. There will also be an option to purchase raffle tickets at the event. There will be one raffle prize bundle drawn at the start of every competition. Raffle bundles must be picked up prior to closing ceremonies starting.
-
The event is open to all ages but we ask that children under the age of 14 are supervised at the event venue by an adult. For younger participants, parents should consider if the environment will be motivating for their child as it can be an intense experience - especially in the individual division.
Eligibility Requirements
To participate in the Canadian Nationals in any division, you must be a Canadian citizen or resident. Should the event not sell out, the CJPA team may discuss opening registration to international puzzlers at a later date. This would be for unofficial participation with no ranking nor eligibility for podium prizes.
A Canadian Resident is anyone currently living in Canada. While we are not attaching any time requirements to this identification, we hope you recognize the spirit of this definition. Those who are just visiting or passing through do not fall under this definition.
To be eligible for podium prizes (top ten in each division) you must meet the following requirements:
-
Individual Division: You must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident (hold a PR Card)
-
Pair Division: At least one member of the pair must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident (hold a PR Card)
-
Team Division: At least two members of the team must be Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents (hold a PR Card).

Volunteer
Thank you to all of our volunteers from prior year's events. Without our volunteers this event would not be possible. We are looking for event volunteers to help with the following:

-
Competition Spotters Each round needs about 15-20 spotters. Our spotters are the ones circulating the competition floor and recording finishing times. There are times where spotters can sit, but volunteers for this role should be comfortable on their feet. Spotting rounds range from 90 minutes to 2.5 hour blocks.
-
Registration & Raffle Table to welcome event participants throughout the day and distribute event ID cards.
-
Round Emcee this is great for who is not afraid to speak to a crowd. We will have a prepared script for your to follow to help you out. This is a great add-on role for those spotting.
-
Local Errands is a good role for someone who has access to a vehicle and is familiar with the local area. Local errands will be within a 15 minute drive of the venue. If possible, we may ask for some support pre-purchasing some items which will be fully refunded.
Volunteer appreciation:
-
A volunteer who is scheduled for at least one round of spotting will receive a thank you gift from the CJPA.
Food Options
This year's venue is conveniently located in the heard of Georgetown. This means there are many restaurants and grocery stores in walking distance.
Shopping

Not only is the arena conveniently located across for the Georgetown Shopping Mall, it is a short, 13 minute walk to Puzzles Canada! Remember if you are travelling for the competition, Puzzles Canada can ship your purchases home for you! Puzzles Canada will also be on-site selling the competition puzzles

Hotel Options
This year the CJPA has not arranged one specific hotel. You can check out some of the following hotels that the CJPA has used in the past and been happy with. All are approximately a 20 minute drive from the venue.
