Eligibility to Participate
To be eligible to participate, participants must be Canadian citizens or residents of Canada.
We welcome participants of all ages to participate but any children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult at all times at the venue.
Eligibility of Regional Competition towards CJPA Ranking
All regional event competitions, individual division results, will count towards a participants CJPA ranking, whether eligible for podium prizes or not.
Eligibility for Podium Positions
1. Individual Event
To be recognized as a Regional Top 3 Individual Champion, and be eligible for podium positions, prizes and regional titles, a participant must be:
• A resident of the province in which the competition is being held, or
• A resident of a province/territory in which no regional event is organized in the current competition year and this is their first regional event with the CJPA in the competition year.
• Competition years run from "after Nationals" to "Nationals", generally June - May each calendar year.
• A participant is only eligible to podium in the individual division at one regional event per competition year.
2. Pairs Event
To be recognized as a Regional Top 3 Champion Pair, and be eligible for podium position, prizes and regional titles:
• At least one member of the pair must be a resident of the province/region where the competition is being held or a resident of a province/territory in which no regional event is organized in the current competition year. The other participant must be a Canadian citizen or resident
3. Team Event
To be recognized as a Regional Top 3 Champion Team, and be eligible for podium positions, prizes and regional titles:
• At least two members of the team must be residents of the province/region where the competition is being held or a resident of a province/territory in which no regional event is organized in the current competition year. Remaining participants must be Canadian citizens or residents.
4. Verification
At the time of registration, participants may be asked questions to identify their current eligibility status. While the CJPA hopes to run our eligibility based on the honour system, should eligibility come into question, proof of eligibility may be requested by the CJPA which could include
• A Canadian passport
• Canadian ID with home address, or clarity of residency (ie. drivers license or provincial health card)
• a utility bill in your name
• for minors, a student card or a parent/guardian may be asked to provide proof of residence
Failure to provide adequate documentation may result in forfeiture of position.
