What is a travelling puzzle?

A travelling puzzle can be any puzzle that is passed from person to person.  CJPA's travelling puzzles are all durable, high quality wooden puzzles - something everyone has to experience at least once.  We are working to organize travelling puzzles all over the country in different cities and are focusing on major city hubs as a way to make this activity cost free to avoid the expense and hassle of shipping.

By signing up to join a local travelling puzzle, you are agreeing to:

  • living in the local area.

  • receiving a drop off of the travelling puzzle. This requires participants being comfortable sharing their address with the person before them so they can deliver the puzzle to you.  When you register you will share your address with the CJPA for our route mapping, but we will only share name and email addresses with the entire group.  Participants are agreeing to keep the participant email list confidential and not using the emails for any other purpose.

  • complete the puzzle promptly (aiming for < 1 week) as a moving travelling puzzle is a happy travelling puzzle.

  • make one post to social media with you and the travelling puzzle and tagging the CJPA and any associated sponsors as listed on the instruction card.

  • complete the tracker form, including an image and positive feedback for our sponsor.  This also allows us to follow our puzzles whereabouts.

  • deliver the puzzle to the next participant on the list.  To obtain their address, you will contact them via email.  Please note: A vehicle is likely required in most areas.  We will be mapping a route to limit the delivery distance as much as possible.   A specific maximum distance can not be provided at this time as it will vary by community, but you will be notified in your initial email from the local lead.

Should you have accessibility concerns but would like to participate in a current local travelling puzzle, please email us at canadianjpa@gmail.com so we can work to see if there may be a solution.

How do I sign up?

To participate, check out our Travelling Puzzle Sign Up Form.  The current available regions are listed.  You must live within a reasonable distance 15-20 mins from a central hub in the city or town.  Anyone can sign up.

Once a certain number of people have registered, the local lead will craft a schedule based on location and communicate to the travelling puzzle team with the guidelines, instructions, and path of the travelling puzzle.

We do hope to expand this initiative throughout the country, and to some smaller cities and towns.  Our first priority is aiming to get at least one into each Province and Territory.  If you are interested in being a local lead in a province or territory that isn't currently represented, please reach out to us on our contact page.

What are my responsibilities as a participant?

The local lead will prepare a travel schedule and email all participants.

1. Receive an email from the local lead.

2. Wait for an email from the previous puzzler and provide your address for delivery.

3. When you receive the puzzle, complete it within one week.

4. Make one social media post and complete the tracking form (information included with the puzzle).

5. Contact the next puzzler and arrange to deliver the puzzle to them.

You are expected to deliver the puzzle to the next person on the list.  Our goal is to limit travel time to a reasonable distance and the distance required will be shared with you on the initial travel schedule.  Should this be a problem, please notify your local lead before you accept the puzzle and they can remove you from the schedule.
