Love the idea of the World Series but can’t travel or didn't make the cut?  After seeing the number of Canadians that were unable to secure the spot, the CJPA got talking to puzzlers in our community and a new idea took shape.  The CJPA is planning a companion individual virtual competition modelled after the world series event. Our participants are encouraged to tune into the World Series livestreams between rounds.

Whether you're building FOR speed or just here for the thrill of the build, everyone is invited!

Images are being selected with a goal of having fun while also representing a variety of characteristics to test different skills.  The brands will not be revealed to ensure maximum secrecy - but we are very excited about the catalogue of puzzles we are working on.

The puzzles will arrive in a box.  Unlike our regular virtual competitions, please do not open the box.  Each puzzle will be individually concealed in a polymailer with instructions for joining the Zoom call.  Open the box and bag only when instructed.  Exterior plastic and stickers will not be removed.  Please be prepared at home with tools to assist.

Puzzlers will have 1 hour and 30 minutes [90 minutes] for each round.
When puzzlers are finished their puzzle:

  • stop their timer

  • type their name and finishing time into the chat

  • hold their time up to the screen

If a puzzler does not finish when the event time expires, puzzlers must:

  • stop puzzling

  • take a photo of their puzzle

  • submit the "Remaining Pieces" form
(QR code on event packaging or link will be on website)

  • Groups of three or more pieces are counted as assembled.
Single pieces and groups of 2 pieces must be counted as incomplete pieces.

  • Remaining pieces incur a 5-second penalty each, added to the final time.

  • A competitor who does not attend a challenge will receive a score of the total allocated time plus a penalty for every puzzle piece.

Puzzlers will:

  • Earn a rank for each challenge.

  • Receive an overall score: times from all challenges are added together to obtain a cumulative score.

The competitior with the lowest cumulative score is the Shadow Series Champion!
