Information on Invitee Selection

Invitees:

  • Invitees are being selected from CJPA’s in-person competitions starting with Nationals 2025 and each regional event following in the 25-26 CJPA Season.

  • In the spirit of regional events and having cross-Canada representation at our invitational:

    • The top two finishers in each event, who reside in the province of the event*, will be invited to participate in the event.

    • An exception is made for top finishers who reside in a province or territory that has not had a CJPA in-person event.  They will be eligible for a spot in the invitational event.  For example, a participant residing in Manitoba would be eligible for an invite position if they finish in top positions at of the CJPA in-person events listed below.

    • Proof of residency, where applicable, is based on province/territory of Driver's Licence or Health Card at the time of the competition.

  • Additionally, on February 15th we will invite the top two ranked members from the CJPA Rankings who have not already qualified through the in person competitions.

  • Should an invitee decline to participate, we will select the next eligible participant.

  • Should an invitee appear twice, they will be selected from the competition that happened first and in the subsequent event, we will move to the next eligible participant.

We recognize that there is no perfect selection process, the CJPA does their best to be fair and transparent.  The goal with this event is to invite some of the fastest puzzlers with representation from all across Canada.

This will result in two participants being selected from each of the following in date order, resulting in 10 competitors:

  • Nationals 2025

  • BC Regional May 2025

  • QC Regional August 2025

  • AB Regional August 2026

  • CJPA Rankings (from any province / territory of residence)

Additional Notes for Participants

  1. Participants will be directed to mute their device during the event and turn down their sound, should they not want the distraction from the commentary.

  2. Participants will be asked to hold their time clock up to the camera at completion and also record their finishing time in the chat.

  3. Immediately following the competition participants are expected to join us for an informal Q&A chat.
