Regionals General Competition Rules
Eligibility to Participate
To be eligible to participate, participants must be Canadian citizens or residents of Canada.
We welcome participants of all ages to participate but any children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult at all times at the venue.
Eligibility of Regional Competition towards CJPA Ranking
All regional event competitions will count towards a participants CJPA ranking, whether eligible for podium prizes or not.
Eligibility for Podium Positions
1. Individual Event
To be recognized as a Regional Top 3 Individual Champion, and be eligible for podium positions, prizes and regional titles, a participant must be:
• A resident of the province in which the competition is being held, or
• A resident of a province/territory in which no regional event is organized in the current competition year and this is their first regional event with the CJPA in the competition year.
• A participant is only eligible to podium in the individual division at one regional event per competition year.
2. Pairs Event
To be recognized as a Regional Top 3 Champion Pair, and be eligible for podium position, prizes and regional titles:
• At least one member of the pair must be a resident of the province/region where the competition is being held or a resident of a province/territory in which no regional event is organized in the current competition year. The other participant must be a Canadian citizen or resident
3. Team Event
To be recognized as a Regional Top 3 Champion Team, and be eligible for podium positions, prizes and regional titles:
• At least two members of the team must be residents of the province/region where the competition is being held or a resident of a province/territory in which no regional event is organized in the current competition year. Remaining participants must be Canadian citizens or residents.
4. Verification
• At the time of registration, participants may be asked questions to identify their current eligibility status.
• While the CJPA hopes to run our eligibility based on the honour system, should eligibility come into question
• Proof of eligibility may be requested by the CJPA which could include
• A Canadian passport
• Canadian ID with home address
• a utility bill in your name
• for minors, a student card or a parent/guardian may be asked to provide proof of residence
• Failure to provide adequate documentation may result in disqualification or forfeiture of position.
At the time of registration, there will be three separate forms and you may only register one person, pair or team per form.

For the pair and teams event, if you know your teammates, have their names (correct spelling etc), province of residence, and email addresses ready. In addition speak to your teammates so that you can confirm on their behalf the photography permissions and eligibility as a Canadian citizen or resident.
If you are registering but do not know the name of your teammates, please notify us as soon as possible, but at least one month prior to the competition date for us to prepare registration materials for the event.
All competition registrations are non-refundable and non-transferrable. These conditions are agreed to at the time of registration. Refunds may be available at 75% if the following two conditions are met:
1. The CJPA has interested participants on our waitlist and the CJPA is able to resell the ticket and
2. The CJPA is notified by email: canadianjpa@gmail.com (mailto:canadianjpa@gmail.com)two weeks prior to the event date.
3. For example: if the event date is March 20th, 20-14 days = March 6. Please notify us by March 6th at midnight in your time zone.
Please note: If you issue a chargeback with your bank, you void all refund opportunities listed above when the dispute is settled in our favour.
In the event you are unable to attend, we would appreciate it if you could notify us at canadianjpa@gmail.com (mailto:canadianjpa@gmail.com)so we know not to expect your attendance. If time permits, we may try to fill the vacancy. If you are unable to attend the event, you forfeit your competition puzzle and it will be given back to the CJPA.
The CJPA reserves the right to refuse registration or admission of people who may alter the public order or have shown an attitude contrary to the gracious professionalism expected by CJPA leadership of our community members and event participants.
The CJPA is not responsible for lost personal items. Keep personal belongings with you at all times.
The decisions of the CJPA Administration and our volunteers during the contests are final. Participating in the Canadian Regional Jigsaw Puzzle Competition implies full acceptance of these rules. Any incident that arises that is not reflected in these rules will be resolved by the CJPA Administration.
By entering an event or program of the Canadian Jigsaw Puzzle Association, you are entering an area where photography, audio and video recording may occur.
Your entry and presence on the event premises constitutes your consent to be photographed, filmed, and/or otherwise recorded and to the release, publication, exhibition, or reproduction of any and all recorded media of your appearance, voice, and name for any purpose whatsoever in perpetuity in connection with Canadian Jigsaw Puzzle Association and its initiatives, including, by way of example only, use on websites, in social media, news and advertising.
By entering the event premises, you waive and release any claims you may have related to the use of recorded media of you at the event, including, without limitation, any right to inspect or approve the photo, video or audio recording of you, any claims for invasion of privacy, violation of the right of publicity, defamation, and copyright infringement or for any fees for use of such record media.
You understand that all photography, filming and/or recording will be done in reliance on this consent. If you do not agree to the foregoing, please do not enter the event premises.
